School Values

"Pupils were instrumental in developing the school’s core values of kindness, unity and courage and one child explained that ‘it’s what we are all about."

SIAMs Inspection 2017

Kindness, Unity & Courage

At TSM, careful consideration was taken when deciding on the core values of the school. After consulting children, staff and parents, the values of Kindness, Unity and Courage were chosen. During the last 2 years, children have learnt about the importance of these values, where these values can be found in the Bible and have shown these values in their everyday life.

Kindness: Children and staff at TSM show kindness every day in different ways. One child explained kindness at TSM as 'a big family that never makes you upset.'

When thinking about the Bible, children recognise that kindness can be found in many parables and in the stories that Jesus told his disciples.

Some of the children's favourite stories/proverbs include:

The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37)

The Golden Rule 'Do unto others as you would have them do to you' (Luke 6:27-31)

'Never let loyalty and kindness leave you.... then you will find favour and earn a good reputation' (Proverbs 3:3-6)

Unity: At TSM we are proud of the family feel that exists in the school. Our children, parents and visitors to the school have commented on the sense of unity and family that exists. One inspector wrote 'that TSM has an outstanding Christian and inclusive family ethos...' Children are aware of the importance of working with others and supporting each other in all areas of school life. One child explained that unity at TSM meant 'everyone is involved. Involved in games, lessons, skipping and helping others’.

When thinking about the Bible, children recognise that unity can be found in many parables and in the stories that Jesus told his disciples.

Some of the children's favourite stories/proverbs include:

'For the body is not one member, but many' (1 Corinthians 12:14)

The 12 Disciples: Jesus had a number of ways to teach about teamwork and unity. Once he sent the disciples in teams of 2 to encourage them to help each other. Another way was Jesus telling the disciples to rely on other people who could be believers. (Mark 6:7-13)

Rebuilding the wall in Jerusalem (Nehemiah 4:15-23)

Courage: As a school, one of our roles is to equip the children we teach with the skills to face life after education. Resilience and courage in the face of challenge is a vital skill to ensure success during their academic career and life beyond education. Children and staff at TSM continue to challenge themselves, attempt new things, find courage to ask for help and resilience to try again when things go wrong. One children explained that 'courage at TSM means you try your best and never give up no matter how hard something is to do.'

When thinking about the Bible, children recognise that examples of courage can be found in many parables and in the stories that Jesus told his disciples.

Some of the children's favourite stories/proverbs include:

Abraham: who showed courage in leaving his home and travelling to an unknown place. (Genesis chapters 12-25)

Daniel in the Lion's den (Daniel 6)

David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
