Welcome to Our Early Years Foundation Stage
    Gaudi Class

A very warm welcome to Gaudi Class, where children begin their learning journey within a happy, nurturing and inspiring environment at Trinity St Mary’s CofE Primary School.

We believe the Early Years should be filled with curiosity, creativity, exploration and joy. In Gaudi Class, children are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence and resilience while developing a love of learning that will support them throughout their school journey and beyond.

Our caring and experienced staff take time to get to know every child as an individual, helping them to feel safe, valued and part of the TSM family from the very beginning. Through strong relationships and a carefully planned environment, we support children to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Children learn through a balance of play, exploration and adult-led learning experiences designed to spark imagination and encourage discovery. Our classroom provides a rich variety of opportunities including:

    • imaginative role play,
    • creative arts and crafts,
    • construction and investigation,
    • early reading and phonics,
    • maths exploration,
    • fine motor activities,
    • and independent learning opportunities.

We place a strong emphasis on developing communication, confidence and early language skills within a vocabulary-rich environment where children are encouraged to talk, question, explore and share ideas.

    Early Reading & Phonics

Children take part in engaging daily phonics activities that introduce them to letters and sounds in fun and meaningful ways. Through stories, songs, games and practical activities, children begin to develop the foundations for reading and writing while building confidence and enjoyment in literacy.

    Early Mathematics

Children are introduced to early mathematical concepts through practical, hands-on experiences including counting, sorting, pattern, shape and problem-solving activities. We aim to develop confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics through exploration, discussion and play.

    Outdoor Learning & Exploration

Outdoor learning is an important part of life in Gaudi Class. Our covered free-flow outdoor area allows children to learn and explore in all weather conditions, helping to develop curiosity, independence and physical confidence.

Children enjoy access to a spacious outdoor environment including:

    • climbing and balancing equipment,
    • running and active play areas,
    • sand and water play,
    • mud and nature exploration,
    • and opportunities for imaginative outdoor learning.

We believe outdoor experiences support wellbeing, teamwork, creativity and a sense of awe and wonder about the world around us.

    The EYFS Curriculum

In Nursery and Reception, children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which supports learning and development across seven key areas including communication and language, personal and social development, physical development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

At TSM, our broad and enriching curriculum is enhanced by our Christian ethos and values of Kindness, Unity and Courage, helping children develop confidence, compassion and a strong sense of belonging.

    Working Together with Families

We value the important partnership between home and school and believe that working closely with families helps children thrive. We use Tapestry to share photographs, observations and updates about your child’s learning journey, allowing parents and carers to celebrate achievements and stay connected with school life.

We look forward to working together to support your child as they learn, grow and flourish within the TSM family.

    Kind regards,
    Miss Beale
