A very warm welcome to Grace Darling Class!
Grace Darling Class is a happy, nurturing and engaging learning environment where children are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence and resilience as they continue their journey through Upper Key Stage 2.
At TSM, we believe every child should feel known, valued and inspired to flourish. We strive to create a classroom where children feel supported to challenge themselves, explore new ideas and develop a love of learning in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
This year is an exciting stage in your child’s education as they continue building the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for the next steps in their learning journey. Through creativity, collaboration and high expectations, we encourage children to become thoughtful, curious and responsible learners.
Homework is set every Thursday and should be returned the following Thursday.
Activities may include:
Homework is designed to reinforce classroom learning, encourage independence and help children develop positive learning habits.

Spelling tests take place every Friday.
Reading continues to play a vital role in children’s learning and development throughout Year 5.
Children are encouraged to read at least four times each week and record this in their reading records. Reading aloud to an adult and discussing the text together helps develop fluency, comprehension and confidence.
We aim to foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading and encourage children to explore a wide range of books and authors.
PE lessons take place on Tuesday afternoons.
Please ensure children bring their full PE kit to school each week, including:
Physical activity is an important part of children’s wellbeing, teamwork and confidence and we encourage all children to participate fully.
At TSM, we value strong partnerships between home and school and believe children thrive when families and staff work together closely.
If you have any questions, concerns or would like to discuss your child’s learning or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year together in Grace Darling Class, filled with curiosity, creativity and exciting opportunities for every child to flourish.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes,
Miss A.B.
