At Trinity St Mary's, we believe spirituality is at the heart of what it means to flourish. Spirituality is not something that happens only during Collective Worship or Religious Education. It is woven through every aspect of school life and is nurtured through our Christian vision:
"Love God with all your heart, your soul, your strength and your mind, and love your neighbour as yourself."

Our vision inspires us to create a community where every child is known, valued and loved. Guided by our school values of Kindness, Unity and Courage, we encourage children to grow into compassionate, reflective and hopeful individuals who are ready to make a positive difference in the world.
What is Spirituality?
At Trinity St Mary's, spirituality is about helping children make meaningful connections:
- With themselves – understanding who they are, recognising their emotions, celebrating their strengths and developing resilience.
- With others – building caring relationships, showing kindness, forgiveness and empathy, and learning to value every person.
- With God – exploring faith through prayer, worship, reflection and the teachings of Jesus.
- With the world – developing a sense of awe and wonder, caring for creation and recognising their responsibility to make a positive difference.
Spirituality is about asking life's big questions, noticing beauty in everyday moments, showing gratitude, finding hope in difficult times and recognising that each person has unique gifts to share.
How We Nurture Spirituality
Children's spiritual development is encouraged every day through a wide range of experiences.
Collective Worship
Daily Collective Worship provides opportunities to:
- pray and reflect
- experience moments of stillness
- explore Christian values
- celebrate achievements
- sing together
- respond to Bible stories and teachings.
Across the Curriculum
Spirituality is developed across every subject by encouraging children to:
- ask thoughtful questions
- wonder and be curious
- think deeply
- appreciate creativity and beauty
- reflect on their learning
- explore different perspectives.
Relationships
Our Christian values shape how we care for one another.
Children learn to:
- show kindness and compassion
- forgive and seek forgiveness
- celebrate differences
- work together respectfully
- support one another through challenge and success.
Reflection and Prayer
Throughout the school day, children are given opportunities to pause, reflect and pray.
Whether during worship, in the classroom or outdoors, these quiet moments allow children to consider their thoughts, feelings and experiences and to grow in wisdom and understanding.
Caring for God's World
We encourage children to recognise their responsibility to care for creation and to serve others.
Through courageous advocacy, charity work, Eco Council, Faith Council and community projects, children learn that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Moments of Awe and Wonder
Spirituality often begins with moments that make us stop and notice.
These might include:
- discovering something amazing in nature
- listening to beautiful music
- creating artwork
- reading an inspiring story
- celebrating someone's achievement
- experiencing silence and reflection
- asking questions that do not always have easy answers.
These moments help children develop curiosity, gratitude and a deeper appreciation of themselves, others and God's world.

We want every child to leave Trinity St Mary's with more than academic knowledge. We want them to leave with hope in their hearts, confidence in who they are and compassion for others. By nurturing spirituality alongside learning, we help children become thoughtful, courageous and caring individuals who are equipped to flourish in school, in their communities and throughout their lives.
