Year 3/4- Australia Class

Welcome to Australia Class! In our class, which is both Year 3 and Year 4, we are exploring all of the lower key stage 2 curriculum. This setup provides great opportunities for collaborative learning, peer support, and the chance for children to grow together as they build on their individual strengths.

Key Information:

Spellings: Spellings are sent out every Tuesday and are based on the National Curriculum spelling patterns for Year 3 and 4. Children will be tested on these spellings the following Tuesday.

Timetables: Timetables will be tested every week. By the end of Year 3 all children should know by heart their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables. Please practice with your child to aid their learning. By the end of Year 4, children should know all times table facts up to 12 x 12. They will take part in the Multiplication Times table Check. The children will complete four times tables tests a week, this focusses on fluency and speed. 

Reading: Children are expected to read with an adult every night and have their reading records signed to reflect this. Their reading books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays. 

P.E: Our PE lessons will be on a Wednesday afternoon; please ensure your child has a full PE kit which consists of their house coloured top, blue shorts or black leggings/tracksuit and trainers.

Swimming: Year 3 children go swimming every Wednesday. All children will need their Swimming Kits and packed lunch. 

Homework: Set on Tuesdays and due in the following Tuesday. It will include spellings, grammar, and maths questions that link to what we’ve been learning in class.
