YEAR 5/6: Wandsworth 5-aside Tournament 2016

On Thursday 6th October, TSM football team travelled to Southfields Academy to take part in the 2016 (Y5/6) 5-a-side Football Competition. A very large entry of 32 teams from Wandsworth took part, producing exciting and competitive football on a cold, crisp autumn day! Each team member played their part and had great fun in taking part. Thank you to Mr Wicking and Mr McAdoo for supporting the team and very well done to each person who got ‘Man of the Match’.

Tennis Competition

All at TSM would like to congratulate the school tennis team for bringing home a silver medal.
It was our first outing as a tennis team and to gain this accolade was a great achievement.
There was some fine tennis on the day with great serves, fine rallies, excellent returns and powerful teamwork. We narrowly lost out on the gold medal but with practice and dedication I am sure we will run it close next year.

A special mention goes to Amya for receiving a special medal for her sportsmanship.
Congratulations, we are all very proud.

Macmillan Coffee Afternoon

A very big thank you to all those parents and staff who took part in our coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support & Jeans for Genes day.

We raised £159.00 for Macmillan Cancer and £125.25 for Jeans for Genes.

Hispanic Day 2015

TSM was gripped by fiesta fever on Friday October 16th as we celebrated Día de la Hispanidad (Hispanic Day) - Spain’s National Day.
We were privileged to have the renowned Ramón Ruiz, a prominent Flamenco Guitarist (with over 3 million hits on You Tube!), and Carmen Tevar, an accomplished professional Flamenco dancer, deliver Flamenco workshops to the whole school throughout the day following a demonstration in the morning.   Needless to say, children and staff had lots of fun clapping, stamping and twirling their way through the day!
Aside from the flamenco workshops, pupils were submerged in Spanish related activities in their classes, Pablo - our Spanish teacher - delivered his usual weekly lessons and school dinners took on a Spanish twist.  Children enjoyed making flamenco dancer arts and crafts, carnival masks, online Picasso paintings and flags of the 21 Spanish speaking countries;  Year 6 were even challenged to a Maths treasure hunt - in Spanish!  Most classes enjoyed some time out with some tapas and child-friendly Sangria and our fun day concluded with a whole school photograph alongside our Spanish visitors; a TSM sea of red and yellow!

Black History Week

On the 12th October 2015 TSM is having a very exciting visit from author Ifeoma Onyefulu. Ifeoma is a Nigerian children's author and novelist who has written her own colourful books about African life. As part of Black History Week she will be reading the children some of her books which include her own colourful photographs of Africa along with discussing her writing career and how she became an author.

Black History Week

On Monday 12th October TSM was very lucky to have author Ifeoma Onyefulu visit us as part of our Black History Week celebrations. Ms. Onyefulu is a Nigerian living in London who has written over twenty children’s books. She is also a two time recipient of the Children’s Africana Book Award (CABA). Ms. Onyefulu spoke  about her work during a special assembly and shared her experiences of what it means to be a writer.  The children were also lucky enough to take part in a number of writing workshops with the author. We also took part in an African drum workshop where the children were lucky enough to learn to play different drums with different beats.

Bishop's Award

Congratulations to Penny, our school governor on receiving the bishop's award.

Congratulations from the Rt Hon David Laws MP on our excellent Key Stage 2 results for the last four years.

At Trinity St Mary's we work very hard to help and support children to be the best they can be, we are so proud that this has been recognised by the Department for Education. Well done to all the staff and pupils who have made this possible!

Petals of Peace
9th October 2014

The Petals of Peace project visited TSM to tell us all about little Fadu and the story of her father who
lost his life in China simply for embracing the values of ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance’.
The story continues to raise awareness of the injustice against the millions of Falun Gong
practitioners in China in the hope that we can help bring the suffering to an end.

The children made lotus flowers out of card to symbolise beauty and serenity and also had the
opportunity to practice the ancient art of Falun Gong in order to find inner peace and serenity.
This global project is an opportunity to encourage a child’s creativity while promoting a greater
understanding of the values that inspire a compassionate heart

eSafety Day
The eSafety day raised awareness among the children about the benefits and risks of using internet technology and electronic communications. The day is designed to help children understand how to be safe and aware when using the internet.
